My latest obsession

This is a picture of The Gosselin Family.  They have a program on TLC Monday nights about their lives, it is called Jon & Kate plus 8.  They couldn't get pregnant on their own so they had fertility treatments.  The first time they had a set of twin girls.  A few years later Kate really wanted to know what it would be like to just have one baby, but instead with fertility treatments ended up with 6 (3 boys and 3 girls).  Can you imagine?! Taylor Rose and I love watching it, I can even get Bill to semi- watch it as long as he has work to do on his lap top.  It is amazing to watch how they are able to do anything.  On next week's episode they are skiing at the Canyons Resort in Park City. I haven't even taken my 3 kids skiing because it can seem overwhelming.  I am such a wimp! Anyway, this show really makes me appreciate what it means to be a mother, whether you have 8 kids or only 1, we all are doing the best we can.  It also really makes me laugh.

A rare sight...

This is truly an anomaly, no dirty laundry in the upper baskets, but even more astounding no clean laundry in the lower baskets!    Bill sometimes wonders why we ever invested in closet organizers or dressers, the kids usually select their clothing from the clean piles in their laundry baskets.  NOT TODAY!!  In my life laundry and dishes are as sure as death and taxes. ( although I could always demand that we join a nudist colony and only eat on paper plates with plastic utensils) I just thought I would share this brief moment of accomplishment with you, in two hours the laundry will start again as everyone gets in the bath.  It was good while it lasted...

Piano Solos

Taylor participated in her piano solo recital today.  She played two memorized pieces and was judged by members of the Utah Federation of Music Clubs.  She did a great job and was given a SUPERIOR score!  We are so proud of her and love to hear her play.

Aargh...

Trace tried out for the school musical production of Treasure Island.  He wanted the part of Ben Gunn, a washed-up pirate with only about 4 speaking lines.  Instead he was cast as Jamie, the 4th biggest part in the play!  He is very nervous about having such a big role, but we know he will do a great job!  All those hours playing imaginary games are going to really pay off.  I am nervous because I am responsible for making his costume....HELP MOM! Show dates will be May 8th & 9th.

Yeah Tate!

Tate just completed his 100th day of kindergarten.  We are so proud of him.  He is learning to read, write, and even do math.  We love his teacher Mrs. Beutler.  She is going to have her first baby at the end of the school year.  Tate seems pretty fascinated and everyday reports on how much Mrs. Beutler's tummy has grown.  He has made some new friends and loves to run races at recess.  Kindergarten is a great place to be!

Cheaters Never Prosper

What a Superbowl!!!  We are thrilled that the New York Giants beat the cheating New England Patriots.  Sorry Trace - he was the only one cheering for the Pats.  We had a great time at Mom & Dad's.  Here is a list of the food that was prepared: 1 vegetable tray with dip, a pot of little smokies, sandwich wraps from Costco, kettle baked potato chips (Bill couldn't decide if he liked them so kept eating them), spicy chicken wings, a rack of BBQ ribs, a three meat pizza from Costco, a bowl of large sweedish fish, a bowl of peanut M&M's, and a bowl of Skittles.  How many people attended? 5 adults and 3 children.  I don't think Mom has adjusted to having an almost empty nest...what do you think?
